Macon Loves Music
Macon Loves Music, and many of its musicians who grew up here, got their start early in life like John Tinker did. John took piano in the third and fourth grades, but he found the guitar to be his preferred instrument in the summer of 1965 while at summer camp on Lake Blackshear. Over the years, "JT", as he is known by some of his closest friends and fellow musicians, has acquired a love of many music styles, and has had the privilege of working with some of the best players and singers around Georgia and beyond. An evening of music with his band, Now & Then, will include styles ranging from horn laden rock and soul to tender ballads, bluegrass, reggae, country and a bit of jazz. Now & Then seeks to give their audience a walk down Memory Lane of music from, well, now and then. The goal is to put a song on your lips and in your brain that will make you smile long after the evening is over. And being one who grew up in Macon, John is honored to kick off the celebration of the Cox Capitol's 100th year. What better way to follow up Cherry Blossom Festival than to reminisce with timeless music in the setting of Macon's own historic centennial theatre? With songs from Sam Cooke to Tedeschi Trucks to Chris Stapleton to the Doobie Brothers, you're certain to be singing along !!!
